Description

A farmhouse, likely dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, with an attached barn constructed in the late 18th century and partly rebuilt in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of thin, hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof, sections of which remain. The south front is two storeys high, while a single-storey aisle or outshut extends to the rear. The plan is based on two cells. A barn is situated at the left-hand end of the south front, featuring a segmental-arched cart entry with doorways flanking it, each having monolithic jambs. Stone quoins mark the division between the house and the barn. The south front has chamfered mullioned windows, some lacking mullions, including a two-light fire-window and a four-light housebody window with a three-light window above it to the first floor. There is also a four-light window with a five-light window above it to the first floor. The left-hand return wall is blind. The rear elevation is exposed to the earth and features chamfered and flat-faced mullioned windows of two and three lights. The right-hand return wall has a three-light chamfered mullioned window to the ground floor and a two-light window to the first floor. A partly coped gable is present. The remains of a central chimney stack are visible.
