Description

A group of cottages forming a U-shaped plan, dating from the middle to late 18th century. The cottages are constructed from thin, hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The central range, comprising Nos 2 and 3, features paired doorways and flat-faced mullioned sash windows: two lights to the left and three lights to the right on both floors. Gable stacks are present. The left-hand gabled wing projects forward, displaying three-light windows in the return wall, a two-light window in the gable, and further three-light windows in the left-hand return wall, alongside a doorway with monolithic jambs leading to New Laithe Cottage. No 4 also projects forward, with a ridge line parallel to Nos 2 and 3, and includes small single sash windows. The windows have been altered, and there are two stacks.
