Description

No. 2 Quonian's Lane is an early 19th-century building that serves as part of an office and shop. It is constructed of painted brick with a tiled roof and is designed in an L-plan. The building stands two storeys high and features a two-window range. To the left of the centre, there is a segmental-headed entrance that includes a six-panel door, two of which are glazed. Above the door is a 20th-century plaque inscribed with "AD 1555."

On the left end, there is a large three-light shop window with a return light, while the right end has a three-light window with a timber lintel. The first floor features a large window on the left end that juts out from the wall on the right end, consisting of three fixed lights and a horizontally sliding sash with a cusped frieze, along with a left return light. The right end has a smaller two-light small-paned casement window.

Inside, the shop area has beams with scissor bracing between them, and the first floor above reveals exposed roof trusses. There is a similar 19th-century range to the right, and a workshop at the right end has continuous first-floor glazing, showcasing specimens of the firm's relief work. Robert Bridgeman established his stonemason's business in Lichfield in 1879, moving to Quonian's Lane by 1882 after working on the restoration of the cathedral.
