Description

Causeway House is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 16th century and underwent restoration in the early 20th century. The building features a timber frame with some brick underbuilding and a tiled roof with a brick chimney. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range.

The ground floor has a moulded bressumer, which is now only partially jettied, and there are two gables, with a half gable on the left. The entrance on the left side has a Tudor arch and a four-light overlight with leaded glazing, along with a battened door. To the right, there is a taller Tudor-headed entrance in a recess, which also has a battened door and a small high two-light window to its right. The building features mullioned windows with leaded glazing, primarily consisting of rectangular quarries. The underbuilding includes a three-light window with a return light and a canted bay window on the right side under the jetty. On the first floor, there are two two-light windows, one of which has diamond quarries, on the left gable, and a four-light window to the right. Additionally, there is a rainwater head marked with the letter "S" and a downspout, as well as a scrolled wrought-iron sign bracket. At the rear, there is a wing with a chimney. Inside, the building retains timber framing and chamfered beams.
