Description

Colesty Farmhouse and the adjoining cottage to the southwest are located in Clun, and were originally built in the early 17th century, with remodelling and additions made in the mid-to-late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar and brick dressings on the later additions, and have a slate roof.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays. It includes mid-to-late 19th century wooden casements, with a two-light window in the centre on the first floor and ground floor windows that have transoms. The central entrance features a four flush-panelled door, with the top panels glazed, framed by a moulded architrave and a late 19th century gabled wooden porch with openwork sides. The interior has not been inspected, but a previous listing describes features such as hewn beams, a close-studded timber framed cross wall, a rectangular-panelled timber framed partition, an oak staircase with a finialed square newel, and a plank and muntin attic door.

The cottage, which was formerly two separate cottages, dates from the mid-to-late 19th century. It has three-light wooden casements with segmental brick heads, including one on the first floor to the right and two on the ground floor to the right. There is also a ground floor two-light casement with a segmental brick head replacing a former doorway, and a boarded door to the left with a segmental brick head.
