Description

Church Farmhouse and a cottage attached to its left date from the 17th century. The farmhouse is built of regular coursed ironstone rubble, with a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof featuring stone copings. It has a brick end stack to the left and a brick stack on a stone base to the right, and follows a two-unit plan with a single storey and attic. The front has a two-window range. A plank door on the left, with a moulded wooden surround and wooden lintel, likely led to a shared passage between the cottage and farmhouse. Two renewed three-light stone mullion windows with hood moulds and label stops are on the right. Two similar windows are set into the attic. A fire plaque is also present. Each window has an opening casement, wrought iron fasteners, and springs. The rear has a storey-height rectangular external stair, a renewed stone mullioned window, and a small wooden mullioned window to the left of a 20th-century porch. The attached cottage is also built of regular coursed ironstone rubble and has a steeply pitched corrugated iron roof. It features an axial stack with a stone base and brick flue. The cottage also has a two-unit plan and a single storey with an attic. A shared doorway is on the right, and a blocked window with a wooden lintel is to the left. The attic has a long four-light window to the right and a blocked window with a wooden lintel to the left. Inside the farmhouse, the living room features stop-chamfered beams and chamfered joists. A chamfered bressumer with a rack for spits is positioned above an inglenook with a 20th-century inserted fireplace. The kitchen retains a complete set of stop-chamfered beams and joists, along with two winder stairs.
