Description
Ironstone Farmhouse is a 17th to 18th century building that has been converted from a farmhouse to a house. It consists of two sections: the left part features coursed rubble, while the right part has regular coursed rubble. The left section has a steeply pitched 20th-century tiled roof, and the right section is covered with asbestos sheets, both topped with rendered brick stacks.
The left part has a two-unit plan and is a single storey plus attic. It includes a gabled two-storey staircase projection on the left side. To the right, there is a 20th-century door with a stone-slated, sloping roofed porch. Next to it, a three-light wooden casement window with an original lintel is present. On the first floor, there is a three-light wooden mullioned window to the right with an original wooden lintel, and a 20th-century casement window to the left. A two-light stone mullioned window is located in the cellar at the base of the staircase, along with another small window with a stone surround to the left. The rear of this section has 20th-century wooden mullioned and transomed windows with stone flat arches.
The right part also has a two-unit plan and is a single storey plus attic. It features two- and three-light casement windows on each floor, three of which have wooden lintels. Inside, there is a stone spiral staircase leading to the cellar and a 20th-century wooden winder stair to the first floor. The interior includes chamfered beams and a re-set 17th-century doorframe.
