Description
Manor House and attached wall to the left is a house dating from the 17th century, with later additions from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The front elevation is made of ironstone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof with two stone end stacks and stone copings. It has a deep moulded wooden eaves cornice and a two-unit plan, standing two storeys plus an attic with a four-window range. There is an off-centre panelled door to the left with an overlight, a stone porch supported by paired columns and a moulded entablature. To the left of the door is one sash window, and to the right are two sash windows. The first floor and attic each have four sash windows, all with stone sills and keystoned stone surrounds. The right end of the house has keystoned round-headed windows. At the rear, the earlier section features regular coursed ironstone, a moulded Welsh slate roof, and brick stacks, with a 20th-century porch on the ground floor. The attic has two- and three-light metal casements with wooden lintels and nesting boxes in the gable, along with stone copings. Inside, the 18th-century section includes a moulded plaster cornice and beam, a wreathed handrail on the stair, and picture rails. The earliest part of the house has an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and stone flag floors. Historically, the 17th-century rear part is noted as having once been an inn.
