Description
Guilden Down Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th or 17th century and was remodeled in the 18th or 19th century, with additional features added in the mid-to-late 19th century. The structure is primarily timber framed, although much of it has been rebuilt using partly limewashed coursed limestone rubble, with the right-hand end rendered. It has a graded slate roof and is designed in an L-plan. The building has two storeys and features an integral mid-to-late 19th century brick end stack on the left, a brick ridge stack that is off-centre to the right, and an external lateral brick stack along with an integral gable-end stack associated with the 19th century addition.
On the main range, there are mid-to-late 19th century wooden-framed metal casements, with three on the first floor and two on the ground floor, the rightmost of which has a transom. These flank a gabled stone porch that is off-centre to the right on the south front of the projecting right-hand wing, which contains one three-light casement on each floor. The timber frame is exposed at the rear of the main range.
