Description
Dairy Cottages, originally a farmhouse, were divided into two cottages in the 19th century. The building dates back to the 16th or 17th century and features early to mid-19th century additions and alterations. It is timber-framed with colourwashed stucco render and has a thatched roof. The building is two storeys high.
The entrance front is stucco render that is grooved to imitate ashlar. The nearly symmetrical 19th-century facade was created during the subdivision, featuring plank doors on the left and right, with two-light casements beside each door. On the first floor of each cottage, there are three 3-light casements. The roof is hipped with a near-central brick stack.
To the right of the main house is a recessed brick addition that includes some flint walling and also has a thatched roof, with a blank left-hand end. The rear of the building has lean-tos made of 19th-century brick on both sides. The ground floor features a boarded window on the right and a two-light window on the left, while there are two two-light windows on the first floor to the left.
Inside, both cottages have massive chamfered ceiling beams and joists.
