Description

Riverside is a house that was formerly a rectory, dating from the 17th century and refaced in the early 19th century. It has a timber frame with stucco color-washed render and a plaintile roof, which was probably originally thatched. The building has a 2-cell baffle-entry plan.

The entrance front features two bays that are symmetrically arranged, with a near-central classical door surround supported by brackets and an open pediment, leading to an early 20th-century half-glazed door. To the right, there is a 2-light casement window, and to the left, a 20th-century window with three panes by three panes. The first floor has sash windows with three panes by three panes, all with moulded surrounds. A stack with two flues is located slightly to the right of the ridge.

On the right gable end, there is a cross-window on the left and a window with three panes by three panes on the gable. The left gable end is blank on the lower body and features a slightly jettied gable with a blocked central window, supported on brackets. At the rear, there is a doorway at the right of the center and another at the left, which is half-glazed. The ground floor has a window with three panes by three panes on the right and a single light and a two-light window on the left. The first floor has a two-light window on the left.

Inside, the house has chamfered ceiling beams with stepped lamb's tongue end stops, jowled wall posts with cross beams, and a winder staircase.
