Description

Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a later addition from the late 17th or early 18th century. It is timber framed with colourwashed infill and has a roof made of black and orange pantiles. The building is two storeys high and has an L-shaped plan.

The entrance front features a later projecting wing on the left, which includes a 20th-century French window on the gable end and a 2-light 20th-century window. The right side of this wing has a 2-light casement window on the left and a 3-light casement window on the right at ground level, with a 3-light casement window above on the first floor. There is a lean-to porch with a pantile roof located in the re-entrant angle between this wing and the earlier section.

Towards the centre of the axial range is a gabled porch that has a central half-glazed doorway flanked by lateral lights. On either side of the porch are 3-light 19th-century casement windows. The first floor features two 3-light casements and two 2-light casements. A single-flue stack is positioned at the ridge near the centre, with another stack on the left side of the projecting wing.

On the right gable end, there is a cross window on the ground floor and a 2-light window on the first floor, accompanied by a slightly recessed outshut that features a 2-light cambered-headed window. The left side has the gable end of the axial range, which includes two 3-light casements on the ground floor, one 3-light casement on the first floor, and a 3-light casement in the attic. The projecting later wing on the right has a stable door on the ground floor, with a single-light window to its left and a 2-light and a single-light window to its right. There is also a flat-roofed dormer window on the first floor with two lights on the left and one on the right.

At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to with a catslide pantile roof, which has a plank door on the right, a cross window to the left of the door, and a 2-light 20th-century casement window further to the right. The walling to the right of this lean-to has two 3-light casements.
