Description

Bryn House is a house dating back to the 14th or 15th century, significantly remodelled in the mid-to-late 19th century and with a large addition built in the late 19th century. The 19th-century addition is constructed of squared and coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof, featuring gabled dormers and substantial stone chimney stacks. The south-east front has three bays with wooden casement windows, a pair of French casements in the centre, and the main entrance on the north-west side.

A separate wing, possibly dating from the 14th or 15th century, extends to the north-east and is timber-framed with coursed limestone rubble walls and a slate roof, with a catslide over an outshut to the south-east. This wing has two and a half framed bays and features a storey and attic. The north-west front of this older wing has a central dormer with a two-light casement. The ground floor has three-light casements, the one to the left being leaded, a 20th-century half-glazed door, and a single-storey lean-to on the left with a small two-light casement. A further lean-to is at the rear, containing 20th-century casements and a door located off-centre to the left.

Inside the older section of the house, there are full cruck trusses and large ground floor joists. A cruck blade appears to have been re-used as a principal rafter in the lean-to on the north-east.
