Description

College Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding to the east are located on Main Street in Fotheringhay. The farmhouse dates from the early to mid-19th century and is built on the site of an earlier farmhouse. It features squared coursed limestone and a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed in an L-shape, the building now has an irregular double depth.

The main front has a two-window range of unhorned sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath gauged stone heads with ashlar dressings. A central, part-glazed, panelled door is flanked by a flat wooden porch supported by pilasters and slender columns. There are brick and stone stacks at both ends of the building. The rear wing, located to the right, includes sash windows on the ground floor and casement windows with glazing bars on the first floor, all under flat stone arches.

The attached outbuilding to the left of the main front likely dates from the 18th century and features a plank door to the right and a window opening with wooden shutters to the left, both under flat stone arches. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade. The rear elevation of the farmhouse is depicted in a drawing by George Clarke from 1847.
