Description
Fotheringhay Forge is a forge building dating from the late 18th century and 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and brick, topped with a roof made of pantile and asbestos slate. The building has a single-unit plan and is a single storey high, featuring two bays. On the right side, there is a 19th-century casement window beneath a wooden lintel, while the left side has 20th-century double doors, also under a wooden lintel. A tall brick stack is located at the right end of the building. The left gable and rear elevation also have similar casement windows. At the rear, there is a small brick extension with an asbestos slate roof. Inside, there is a hearth with a brick flue, and the internal arrangement has likely been modified in the 19th century, although some original roof structure remains.
