Description

Orchard Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, with an early 20th-century extension. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and rendered brick, with a thatched roof. It was originally likely a two-unit lobby entry plan. The house has two storeys and a two-window front. The windows are 19th-century casements under wooden lintels. A central plank door is situated under a wooden lintel, and is protected by a 20th-century porch. A single-light window is located to the left of the door. A central stone stack has been rebuilt. There are early 20th-century replacement doors and casement windows. The rear elevation is similar in appearance. The interior was noted to have ceiling beams and likely originally had open fireplaces, although these are now blocked.
