Description
The Laurels is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, with some mid-19th century elements. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Collyweston slate roof. Originally, the building likely had a two-unit plan, but it has been altered to a double depth and stands two storeys tall with an attic.
The main front displays a two-window range of tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath gauged stone heads with keyblocks. The building has ashlar quoins, ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and a central ashlar stack. The left gable features one sash window with glazing bars, while the right gable has mid-19th century wooden bay windows with casement windows above. To the right of the main entrance, there is a mid-19th century part-glazed door, accompanied by stones with carved lettering set in the surround. The mid-19th century range at the rear includes casement windows with gauged stone surrounds. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have a spine passage with stone flagged floor.
