Description

Welland Farmhouse is an 18th-century house situated on Main Street in Barrowden. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins, and has stone dressings and a Collyweston slate roof. Moulded stone stacks, one of which has an upper section of brick, mark the ends. The house has an L-shaped plan, with one wing projecting forward to the left. The main facade faces the rear. The front elevation features two and a half storeys and three renewed casement windows: a three-light window, a two-light window, and a three-light window with a central glazed door below a two-light window. The lintels feature keystones and the windows have stone sills. Two hipped dormers with two-light windows are situated above. On the right side of the projecting wing are two two-light casement windows above a partially glazed door and a similar window. An angle features a lean-to extension, with further windows on the remaining side of the wing. Inside, the house retains beams and an inglenook fireplace.
