Description

Cornerstone House is a late 17th-century house located in Barrowden, on the east side of Chapel Lane. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins, and has stone dressings and a Collyweston slate roof topped with moulded stone end stacks, one of which is partly painted brick. The house has stone-coped gables.

The house is arranged in a "T" shape, with a gabled front. The front gable includes 8/8 sash windows on both floors. The inner return has a 2-light casement window and a 2-light hipped dormer. A 6-panelled door, protected by a stone canopy supported on carved consoles, is positioned on the front, above which is a 2-light casement window. The gable end of the wing has a 2-light stone mullion window on both floors. The rear of the main range features various 2 and 3-light casement windows from the 20th century, a glazed door, and a 3-light hipped dormer. The left side of the house includes a door, similar windows, and a dormer.
