Description
Wakerley House is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a cellar. The main front has a three-window range, with a central door that is part-glazed and has a moulded stone surround, topped with a four-centred arch. There are tall, two-light stone mullion windows with sash opening lights that include glazing bars, while the ground floor windows have Gothick glazing bars at the heads. The roof is hipped and has lateral stone stacks. The rear elevation is similar to the front but includes some casement windows and a central doorway. There is a service room attached at right angles to the rear. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have an early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade.
