Description

1 and 2 Castle Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating back to 1723. The building is constructed of brick and features a plain tiled roof. It stands three storeys high with attic dormers and has a four-window range. A late 20th-century shop front has been added, while the original design includes four-pane sash windows with flat-arched gauged brick heads. There is a shallow string course above the first-floor windows and at the eaves, along with recessed panels below the second-floor windows. The date of 1723 is inscribed on a stone above the second storey, and there is a coped gable on the right side of the building.
