Blacksmith'S Shop And Associated Outbuilding Attached To South At Ngr Sj 3743 0216

This is a mid-19th century blacksmith's shop with an associated stone outbuilding attached to the south. The blacksmith's shop is constructed from red brick with roughly coursed limestone rubble on the gable ends and features a corrugated iron roof with a red brick chimney on the east side. It is a single-storey building with an entrance through double doors located at the far left of the east side. Inside, much of the original equipment remains, with the floor scattered with blacksmith's debris and a few tools as of the last survey in October 1985. Notable interior features include a lifting device resembling a gallows and a brick furnace with hand-operated bellows still in place. The attached outbuilding to the south is made of uncoursed limestone rubble with red brick dressings and is currently roofless, featuring a square plan and a blocked doorway on the south side.
