Description
This is a chimney built in the mid-19th century, located in Worthen, Snailbeach. It features a reddish-brown engineering brick exterior with a rubble core, and has a roughly coursed limestone plinth and stone capping. The chimney has an octagonal shaft that tapers towards the top, standing on a square plinth. There are round-headed arches on the north and south sides of the plinth. This chimney is a notable landmark on the south side of the Snailbeach Valley. Below the chimney, the remains of the flue can be found, although most of it has been removed. These remains include several largely-collapsed round-headed brick arches, which were used as access points to the flue's tunnel.
