Description
No. 55 Mill Street is a house, now used as offices, dating from around 1740. It is constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and features a brick common ridge stack. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a four-window range. The windows are plain sashes with cambered heads, set under gauged brick segmental arches, and there is a storey band. The parapet has moulded stone coping. The entrance is located to the centre left and consists of a six fielded-panel door within a chamfered door case, topped with an overlight and a moulded flat hood supported by fluted pilasters. To the left of the entrance is one plain sash window, and to the right are two plain sash windows, all similar to those described above, with a storey band above. The rainwater head features a motif or coat of arms of the Karver family.
