Description
54 Mill Street is a house dating from around 1740. It features a stucco exterior and a plain tile roof with a brick stack at one end. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a two-window range. On the ground floor, there is a 19th-century canted bay window with sashes arranged in a 4/4, 6/6, and 4/4 pattern, and to the right, a 6/6 sash window with a cambered head. Above this, there are two 6/6 sash windows, also with cambered heads, separated by a storey band. The building is topped with a moulded parapet and a moulded stone cornice. The entrance is located to the right and features a 19th-century door with four fielded panels and a traceried fanlight, set in a plain case beneath a moulded flat hood supported by fluted pilasters. To the left of the entrance, there is a tripartite window with a combination of 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2 sashes. The rainwater head is marked with the initials HK, which stand for Henry Carver.
