Description
This is a house located at 1 Dinham in Ludlow, built in the late 19th century. It features polychrome brick and mock timber-framing, topped with a roof that combines plain tiles and fishscale tile patterns. The building has pierced bargeboards, decorative cresting tiles with finials, and truncated stacks. Its architectural style is an elaborate mix of Venetian Gothic and Elizabethan influences.
The house has a side-hall plan and stands three storeys high with an attic. To the right, there is a double-jettied cross gable with a single-window range. The first and ground floors have three-light 20th-century windows set in stone frames. On the left side, there is a pointed-arched doorway that features the original panelled door and an overlight. Above this doorway, there is a small star-shaped window and a lancet window set back in the wall over the roof of the entrance section.
The building showcases elaborate polychrome brickwork, particularly on the first-floor jetty, and has decorative framing on the second-floor gable. The left side of the house is simpler, primarily constructed of colourwashed brick, but it also includes framing in the gables.
