Description

This barn, located approximately 80 meters west of Brookgate Farmhouse, is likely from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboard and corrugated iron cladding, and its roof is made of plain tiles, slate, and corrugated iron. The interior is open to the roof except for the west bay, which has an inserted loft. There is a former threshing entrance in the second bay from the east. Inside, the framing is exposed, showing square panels with three sections from the cill to the wall-plate, and long straight tension braces. The double-purlin roof spans four bays and includes curved principals with curved struts, which are likely re-used, originating from the tie beams.
