Description

The Old Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, that likely dates back to the 17th century but has undergone significant remodeling, particularly in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which probably covers a timber frame, and features a pantile roof. Originally, it had a roughly L-shaped plan with a twin-gabled projection at the rear forming the short side of the 'L'. A two-bay range was added to the left of the front center gable around 1815, during which time the eaves of the original structure were raised and the entire exterior was clad in brick.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a dentilled eaves cornice. It features a symmetrical arrangement of windows with a pattern of 2:2:2, consisting of glazing bar sashes, most of which have segmental heads. The windows to the left and right of the Tuscan porch in the right-hand bay of the 19th-century addition are tripartite. There are red brick stacks located on the roof slope of the rear gable and behind the ridge, with an end stack to the left.

At the rear, there is a doorway that features an early 17th-century oak door with pointed and scrolled strap hinges. Inside, the left-hand ground-floor room boasts a fine plaster frieze from around 1815 and a Coalbrookdale fireplace. Additionally, 17th-century oak panelling has been reused in the older part of the house. The building was formerly known as Plealey Farmhouse.
