Description

Plealey Methodist Church is a chapel dating from 1828, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of painted brick, topped with a hipped slate roof featuring wide spreading eaves. The main body of the chapel has three bays, with leaded, multi-paned, round-arched windows along its sides. A plain wooden Tuscan porch fronts the entrance. Later 19th-century and 20th-century additions to the rear are not part of the listed building.

The chapel was originally founded by Richard France of Galliers Farmhouse as a Congregational chapel. In the 1830s, following his change of religious views, it became a Baptist chapel, and by 1851, similarly, it changed to a Methodist one, which it has remained since.
