Description
SJ 40 NW; 4/220
PONTESBURY C.P., PLEALEY, Galliers Farmhouse
GV
II
Farmhouse. Early C19 but incorporating parts of an earlier house. Red brick, slate roof with end stack to right and another to left behind ridge. C19 house L-shaped with short range at right-angles to rear on left; lower L-shaped block behind to right has C19 appearance, but is probably part of an earlier house. Two storeys; 3-window front, glazing-bar sashes with gauged heads; central entrance, pedimented doorcase with half-glazed door and fanlight. The early C19 re-modelling was probably carried out for Richard France, father of the Richard France who founded the nearby non-conformist chapel (q.v. under Plealey Methodist Church) in 1828. V.C.H. VIII (1968), p.255.
