Description

This barn, located about 80 metres south of Brook Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is weatherboarded, sitting on a brick plinth. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features five timber-framed bays along with a central midstrey. The roof is half-hipped. There is a weatherboarded porch with a hipped roof on the east side, accompanied by a lean-to structure to the north. Inside, the barn has posts with cut jowls, braced tie-beams, and a staggered butt purlin roof supported by vertical queen-struts at the collars. The walls are reinforced with straight braces, and some of the timber used is re-used from the 16th century.
