Description
These are a pair of cottages located in Yalding. They date to the 18th century, although the front facade was altered in the 19th century. The ground floor is built of red and grey brick, while the first floor is tile-hung. The roof is tiled, with a hipped roof shape, with the right side sloping differently. A brick ridge stack is located slightly to the right of the centre, and a projecting stack is on the left gable end. The windows are irregular, with two 19th-century three-light wooden casements on each floor, and similar windows on the ground floor. Each ground-floor window is accompanied by a two-panelled door, situated between the window and the stack. The windows have splayed, painted voussoirs that continue over the adjacent door. A rear wing extends to the right. The interior was only partially inspected, but features include fielded panels on the doors and stairs behind the stack. The roof structure consists of a clasped-purlin design with slightly cambered collars and non-diminishing principal rafters.
