Description
Crowplain Cottages is a pair of houses located on Benover Road in Yalding. They are probably from the 17th century, with an addition and facade dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of red and grey brick, while the first floor is tile-hung. The roof is made of plain tiles. The left section of the building is likely from the 17th century, while the right section is from the late 18th or early 19th century. The cottages are two storeys high. The roof of the left section is half-hipped to the left, and the right section has a similar ridge but with higher eaves and is hipped to the right. There is a multiple brick ridge stack at the right end of the left section, with an adjoining flue at the left end of the right section. The windows have irregular placement and consist of four-paned two-light casements, with two in each section. The ground-floor casement in the right section has a segmental head. There is a rear door on the left side and a blocked doorway in the centre of the left section. The right end of the right section features a panelled door with a glazed top light. Additionally, there is a rear lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
