Description
This is a barn located 25 metres north of Woofferton Court Farmhouse, dating from the mid to late 15th century, with a later extension. The barn features weatherboarded timber framing on a stone rubble plinth and has a plain-tile roof. It consists of three framed bays, plus a single-bay extension to the north.
The exterior showcases square-panelled, single-pegged wall frames with cleft oak wattle infill that survives on the southeast side. There are double opposing barn doors, which are full-height on the west side and low on the east side. The west side also has 19th-century boarded framed and braced doors. The end truss above the tie beam was renewed in the 19th century.
Inside, the barn has a single trenched-purlin roof with renewed rafters. The internal trusses feature a cambered tie beam, twin raking struts, and a collar with principals halved over at the ridge. The large swept chamfered braces have run-out stops and jowled post-heads. There is a stone flag threshing floor located between the doors.
