Description

The Roebuck is a public house dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled in the late 18th century and has some alterations from the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill and has been refronted in painted brickwork, topped with a slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a rear wing to the east that dates back to the 17th century and a front range from the 18th century featuring gable-end stacks that are external to the south gable.

The structure is two storeys high and has three windows on the upper floor, all of which are 16-pane sashes set beneath painted wedge lintels. On the ground floor, there is a similar window to the right, while to the left is a semi-circular bay window with a flat roof, a moulded wooden cornice, and three curved 16-pane sashes. The central entrance is framed by a flat-roofed portico supported by two Doric columns, and the panelled door is recessed with panelled reveals. Additionally, a new entrance has been created in the right-hand gable end, which features a gabled half-glazed porch from the 20th century. The framing of the rear wing consists of three square panels high with straight angle braces.
