Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres southeast of Maes-yr-haen Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a high coursed limestone rubble plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof that has a catslide over a later outshut at the rear. The barn is likely composed of five framed bays, oriented northeast to southwest, with a slope towards the northeast. It is a single storey structure with a later inserted floor. The barn showcases square panel framing, with five boarded loft doors and four ground floor boarded doors. There is a later lean-to on the right side, and a boarded door is present in the left-hand gable end. The gable ends are supported by collar and tie beam trusses, which include lower king and queen struts along with V-struts above. Note that Maes-yr-haen Farmhouse is not part of this listing.
