Description

Whitcott Hall is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-to-late 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick with sandstone ashlar dressings and a hipped slate roof. The ground floor features a rendered stone plinth, painted stone quoins, and integral brick end-stacks. The building is five bays wide; the windows have gauged brick heads and 19th-century sash windows without glazing bars, with those in the second and fourth bays being blocked. A central three-panelled door, with a rectangular overlight, is sheltered by a 19th-century gabled wooden porch. A later, half-glazed door has been inserted in the second bay from the right. A 20th-century, single-storey lean-to addition is present on the right side, featuring a two-light casement window. The interior is said to contain a good 18th-century staircase, although this has not been inspected.
