Description

The Rhoneth is a house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and mid- to late 19th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame, partially refaced with limewashed limestone rubble and has slate roofs. The original design may have been a "hall" house with a projecting cross-wing. The building is two storeys high. A brick stack is built into the cross-wing on the left, and a stone end-stack is located on the right side of the "hall" range. The “hall” range features 19th-century wooden casement windows with two and three lights on the ground floor, and a two-light casement on the first floor, flanking a 20th-century half-glazed door. The cross-wing has a 17th-century wooden mullioned two-light casement window on the ground floor, and a 19th-century two-light casement above. A weatherboarded collar and tie-beam truss is visible in the gable end of the cross-wing. Evidence of former thatched roofing is indicated by the weathering at the base of the stack.
