Description

1 Broad Street and 19 and 20 King Street is a shop and dwelling, likely built in 1462. The building features a timber frame and plaster construction with a plain tile roof and consists of two bays. It stands three storeys high with a cellar and has a two-window range. The windows are 20th-century casements with leaded lights. The box framing includes a moulded sill band and curved chamfered brackets beneath the soffit. There is a mutilated post supporting the dragon beam and a jetty. The second floor has similar casements above, and the eaves are adorned with a moulded verge.

On the ground floor, there is an early 20th-century shop front with an entrance to the right and a splayed return to King Street. The King Street front has been restored in the 20th century and also features a two-window range with similar casements in box framing, a moulded sill band, and arched upper braces. The jettied second floor has similar fenestration and is topped with two gables. The early 20th-century shopfront includes doors with round-headed glazing on the left and centre right, along with moulded window surrounds and glazing bars, and a jetty above.

Inside, there is a winder stair with a 19th-century flight leading to the attic, reset 17th-century panelling, stop-chamfered ceiling beams, exposed framing with curved arched braces, and a roof derived from crown posts.
