Description

Tamberlane House is a shop and dwelling located in Ludlow, dating from the early 17th century with later alterations. The building features a timber-frame and plaster construction with a plain tiled gable roof and a single bay plan. It stands three stories high, with an attic and cellar. The front has a single window range that includes a 20th-century canted bay with leaded lights and metal casements, situated under a jetty with a 20th-century enriched bressummer board on decorated consoles. Above, there is a 20th-century, two-light casement, and a 20th-century casement window in the gable on enriched consoles, along with 20th-century enriched bargeboards.

The early 20th-century shopfront has undergone some alterations and glazing, extending to the left where there is an 18th-century wing made of brick and plain tile. This wing is also three stories tall with a cellar and features a three-window range with 19th-century margin glazed sashes under soldier arches, and a storey band with similar sashes above.

The rear of the building includes two 18th-century nine-over-six sashes, one six-over-six sash, and one late 19th-century nine-over-six sash, all under segmental arches. There is also a casement window and a 20th-century glazed door beneath a moulded soldier arch. The rear features a post and pan over 18th-century brick, with an enriched bressummer board and consoles at the second floor, along with a 20th-century three-light casement and visible wind brace.
