Description
No. 2 High Street is a house that has been converted into shops and a dwelling, dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber-frame structure with a plain tile roof and a brick ridge stack. The building has a single-unit plan and stands three stories tall with an attic. The front has a one-window range, highlighted by a late 19th-century canted bay with four lights that include casements and a colored leaded clerestory, along with a moulded underhang. The box framing shows chevron bracing, and there is a jetty above supported by figurehead consoles. The leaded light window has a casement and small pieces of old glass set in a moulded case, with cusped quarter bracing. The gable dormer features a two-light casement. The late 19th-century shopfront includes a glazed central door and plate glass windows with moulded glazing shafts. The front facing Harp Lane is finished in stucco and plaster, with a console supporting the first-floor jetty, fixed lights, and three casements. The ground floor has a 20th-century door and brickwork.
