Description
No. 12 High Street is a shop and dwelling dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof, with a brick end stack and a stack at the rear. The building has four storeys and a cellar, presenting a single-window range that includes tripartite 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2 sash windows beneath a grooved stucco lintel, as well as 1/2, 3/6, and 1/2 sash windows on the third floor. The shopfront, from the 19th century, has a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight, flanked by plate glass windows supported by moulded shafts. It also features a fascia board and moulded cornice, along with enriched consoles that have finials. The front facing Market Street includes a 6/6 sash window and a 2-light window with a metal casement, both under segmental arches, along with a single 20th-century tripartite window above, set between two partly blocked openings under segmental arches. Additionally, there is a 20th-century 2-light casement above. The right side of the building has a 19th-century six-panel door with an overlight and a 6/6 sash window, both under segmental arches.
