Description
No. 13 High Street is a shop and dwelling built in the early 18th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a plain tile roof. It stands four storeys tall, with an attic and cellar, and has a two-window range. The windows on the front are 6/6 sashes set in broad moulded cases, which are topped with gauged brick segmental arches and string courses above. The second and third floors also have two 6/6 sashes with cambered heads, broad glazing bars, and moulded cases, again under gauged brick segmental arches, with string courses between them.
The early 20th-century shopfront is located to the centre left and includes a part-glazed door along with plate glass windows that feature clustered shafts, all beneath a deep, moulded hood supported by scrolled consoles. The front facing Market Street has two 20th-century 8/8 sashes under segmental arches on the first floor, with a similar sash and a blocked opening on the second floor. There is also a 20th-century gable dormer with two-light casement windows. The entrance includes a 20th-century six-panel door and an 8/8 sash under an altered segmental arch, with an oak spur-post.
