Description
No. 4 King Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the 18th century. The building is finished in stucco and features a Welsh slate roof with two gables facing the street and a steep pitch at the rear. It has a brick stack at one end and is designed with a two-unit plan. The structure rises four storeys and has a three-window range.
On the left side, there are 20th-century round-headed plain sash windows. The central section includes a combination of 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2 sash windows, all set in broad beaded cases with mullions. Above, there are two 1/1 sashes in broad cases, along with more 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2 sashes. The uppermost section features two 4/4 sashes in moulded cases and a Venetian window with casements and a fanlight-glazed swagged upper light. The left side has a slate-coped parapet, while the right side has a stone-coped parapet.
The early 20th-century shopfront on the right includes a plate-glass window, while the left side features a glazed door with an overlight, positioned between canted plate-glass windows. The shopfront is supported by wooden pilasters with Ionic capitals. The rear elevation is three storeys high, finished in roughcast with early 20th-century windows, and has a parapet with three box dormers.
