Description
Barclays Bank is a bank building located on King Street in Ludlow, constructed in the early 20th century. It is made of brick and features a parapet with end stacks. The building stands three storeys tall, with an attic and cellar, and has a three-window range with 6/2 sash windows. The windows have moulded arches and reveals, linked by dripcourses. There are similar sashes beneath terracotta lintels, separated by pilasters, and each window has balconettes with iron guards supported by fluted consoles. A moulded brick and stone cornice runs along the top, and there is a central gable with a 3/2 sash window under a terracotta lintel. The gable has stone coping, while the flanking parapets are topped with terracotta.
To the left of the façade is a two-leaf, eight-panel door with an overlight, and to the right are metal-framed windows with margin-lights, all set under moulded brick arches and a dripcourse. The rear elevation also features three storeys with various sashes, some under moulded brick segmental arches and stringcourses, and a stone cornice with moulded brick ornamentation. This building is included for its group value.
