Description
39 West Street is a house, possibly a wing of No. 35-37, that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone later alterations. The exterior is rendered with an old plain tile roof that is hipped to the right. The building has three storeys and features a two-window range. The windows include 20th-century cross-windows with casements and 19th-century casements, along with a boarded soffit to the eaves.
On the right side, there is a late 19th-century shop front that includes a glazed and panelled door with an overlight to the left, and a canted plate-glass window with ringed glazing shafts. To the left, there is a 20th-century door and shop window, along with a moulded fascia-board and hood supported by stop-consoles on grooved pilasters. At the rear, there is a wing with an old plain tile roof. The interior has not been inspected.
