Description
35 High Street is a house that has been converted into part shop. It dates from the 18th century and may have an older core. The building is timber framed, with a cement rendered front and pebbledashed brick at the rear. It features a plain tiled roof that is hipped at the back. The plan is L-shaped, with a wing projecting to the front left and a parallel flat-roofed extension in the angle between the main sections. The house has two storeys and a modillioned eaves cornice. There is a corbelled ridge stack located to the left of centre on the rear range. On the first floor, there are two 16-pane glazing bar sash windows that cut into the eaves. Below, there are two cambered head, 16-pane glazing bar sash windows, all set in smooth cement surrounds. A casement window is located in the left-hand gable end of the wing on the first floor, while the ground floor features a plate glass shop window that extends into the wing, with a recessed central glazed door. The main range has an original six-panel door beneath a flat hood.
