Description
The Black Swan Inn is an 18th-century inn located on West Street in Leominster. It features painted brick construction with a plain tile roof, and has both a brick end stack and an axial stack at the rear. The building stands three storeys tall with a cellar and has a four-window range, including 8/8 sash windows and a 3/6 sash window on the left, all set in moulded cases beneath cambered stucco lintels. There are also 20th-century casements and a blocked light, with brick modillion eaves.
The entrance is positioned to the center right and consists of 20th-century double doors with six panels, set within a doorcase that has a moulded open-pediment cambered hood supported by consoles and plain pilasters. To the right of the entrance is a 6/6 sash window, while to the left are paired 6/1 sashes, both under cambered stucco lintels. On the left side, there is a carriageway leading to the rear, featuring early 20th-century glazed and panelled double doors with etched-glass side-lights in a canted return. A 20th-century wrought-iron sign-hanger is also present. The rear of the building includes a roughcast parallel range and a gable wing, both with plain tile roofs and brick stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
