Description

A house, now shops and dwellings, dating to the later 18th century with a core of earlier construction. The front facade is of painted brick under a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building is three storeys high with a cellar, and features a two-window arrangement. It has 6/6 sash windows in moulded surrounds, flanking a blind opening with moulded sills, all under gauged brick flat arches. Above, 3/3 sash windows also have moulded sills and cases, similarly under gauged brick flat arches. There is a cornice to the eaves. An early 19th-century shop front has central 6-panel double doors and bow windows with moulded glazing bars and sills, panelled pilasters, and a deep moulded hood with a cast-iron guard. To the left is a plank door with a plain overlight, leading to a passageway. Late 17th-century timber framing is exposed in the passageway. The rear of the building displays twin gable wings with hipped roofs of old plain tiles, exposed plates, weatherboarding over brick, and 20th-century casement windows. The interior remains uninspected. Number 13 was first listed on December 28, 1961.
