Description

This is an earlier 19th century shop and dwelling, later incorporated into the Talbot Hotel. The ground floor is brick, with painted brick above, and the building has a hipped Welsh slate roof. It is three storeys high and has a two-window front. The upper floors contain altered 8/8 sash windows with gauged brick flat arches, and 4/8 sashes also under gauged brick flat arches. There are brick modillion eaves. Four round-headed lights, set in semicircular arches and under a rendered storey band, feature on the front. A curved return to the left has a margin-glazed bow-window and a clerestory light, also under a returned band. The left return side has two tiers of 8/8 and 4/8 sashes, with gauged brick flat arches, returned band, and eaves detail; there are three round-headed lights in 20th-century brickwork. Number 3 has brickwork to the ground floor and roughcast to the parapet. The upper floor contains a late 19th-century 2/2 sash window above two 20th-century round-headed lights. The interior remains uninspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
